The Punjab government is wasting billions of rupees on the Lahore Transport Company (LTC) while people still wait for public transport for long hours on bus stops, Adviser to the PM on Industries Raja Basharat said on Wednesday. He said that the new bus service of the provincial government would prove another failed project such as the Sasti Roti, Food Stamp, Ashiyana, Danish Schools and Yellow Cab schemes. Basharat alleged that the provincial government had spent millions of rupees of public funds on the publicity campaign to run the new buses on four routes in the city while the Punjab government had no viable transport policy. The adviser to the PM said that transport owners were getting fares of their choice on different routes from passengers and poor commuters were still not getting quality and on-time transport services. Basharat said that former Punjab CM Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had established such a transport system under which commuters got quality and on-time transport service on every route.
