Lahore High Court Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudary, who was elevated to the Supreme Court, left for Islamabad on Wednesday after a ‘Send off’ ceremony by nominated Chief Justice Sh Azmat Saeed and other judges. Justice Saeed will take oath as the 40th chief justice of the LHC today (Thursday) at the Governor House while in Islamabad, Justice Chaudhry will take oath as an SC judge from Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. Led by Justice Saeed, all the judges and registrars of the court presented bouquets to the outgoing CJ, with the administrative charge automatically transferred to Justice Saeed.
Talking to reporters after the photo session with judges and court’s staff, the outgoing chief justice said he had tried to eradicate corruption from the judiciary in the province and he hoped the mission would be continued by Justice Saeed also. Praising Azmat, the outgoing CJ said he was leaving LHC in the control of a good judge. Chaduhry said he had tried his best to dispense justice to the people of Punjab. In a message he advised the countrymen to lead their lives according to Islam and the sayings of Holy Prophet (pbuh) because real success and happiness was in following Word of God. He asked judges to prayer for him so that he may stand up to his principles while serving as a judge in the SC.
