Additional District and Session Judge Khizar Hayat Sial on Wednesday fixed November 22 for arguments on a petition filed by Naheed Robi and 30 others seeking direction for the issuance of a cheque amounting to Rs 5,00,000 as compensation for the death of their beloveds because of dengue. The wife of the Rana Javed (deceased) filed the petition in the court of ADSJ contending that her husband died of dengue but the deputy commissioner was not issuing the amount of Rs 5,00,000 promised by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to the family of the dengue victim. She said the cheques were only being issued to the families of those who had died in government hospitals while the deaths in private hospitals were being ignored. She told the court that she had submitted an application before the DC, from where it was sent to the Civil Defence Office. The CDO then prepared a list of 30 people that was sent back to the DC, where the matter was still pending. She prayed to the court to direct the DC and Health EDO to issue cheque to the petitioner, upon which the court fixed November 22 for arguments.
