Students pay tribute to Iqbal

The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) arranged a special programme to pay tributes to the national poet, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, to mark his 134th birth anniversary. Students from various institutions of Islamabad and Rawalpindi participated in the event. The students presented different verses and poems of the great poet and highlighted themes of his poetry. A group from Beaconhouse School System paid homage to the great poet by singing the inspirational verses: Khudi ka Sir-e-Nihan and Iqbal Hai Iqbal Hai Iqbal Hamara. The students also delivered speeches on Iqbal’s philosophy. The speakers highlighted the philosophy of egoism, love and peace. They said though Iqbal had dreamt of creation of but his philosophy was universal.
The audience was spellbound when a team of students from Bright Land Public School presented a tableau on the evergreen and inspirational poem: Lab Pay Ati Hai Dua Ban Kay Tamana Meri. Other tableaus featured verses from Shikwah and Jawab-e-Shikwah. Students also made paintings reflecting Iqbal’s poetry and philosophy. Addressing the students, PNCA DG Tauqir Nasir said that Allama Iqbal gave an idea to the Muslims of sub continent. He paid rich tribute to the poet on his meritorious service for the Muslims of the subcontinent. Nasir urged students to show discipline and play their role according to the ideals always upheld by Allama Iqbal who wanted to see his nation as prosperous and independent. Later, the PNCA chief distributed prizes among the participants.
