Former chief secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Abdullah, said on Wednesday that the nation must follow the teachings of Maulana Rumi and Allama Muhammad Iqbal, if it were to overcome challenges it was currently facing. This he observed while speaking at a seminar here at the Islamic International University Islamabad (IIUI). He said one could not separate the thinking and philosophy of Maulana Roomi and Allama Iqbal and both the poets always upheld the teachings of Quran and Sunnah in their work. The seminar was organised by the Dawah Academy of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) entitled “Current Challenges and the Visions of Maulana Jalal Uddin Roomi and Allama Iqbal” at the Faisal Mosque Campus of the university. Abdullah said although both lived in different eras, they were one in their approach towards life.
Abdullah said that through the teachings of those poets the nation can bring a revolution emerging from the classrooms. Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik said both Maulana Roomi and Allama Iqbal were the symbols of knowledge and enthusiasm. “We should get rid of foreign NGOs and their sinister designs by following the teachings of these two light houses of the Ummah,” he added. He said both the poets would always be remembered for their wisdom and dedication for the Ummah. Dr Mumtaz Ahmad said the Islamic University was fulfilling its responsibilities for reviving the lost glory of the Ummah by inculcating the teachings of Maulana Roomi and Iqbal in its students. Dr Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman said the Dawah Academy in particular and Islamic University in general was struggling hard to revive the teachings of Muslim intellectuals.
