The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized huge quantity of narcotics including 74,441 kilograms of hashish, 5,263 kg opium, 1,535 kg heroin and 851 kg morphine and cocaine during January to October this year from different parts of the country. An official told APP on Wednesday that most of the contrabands were recovered from cities including Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta and Rawalpindi. The official also appreciated the performance of ANF and reiterated the department’s commitment to continue efforts to make the society free of drugs.
He said the illicit trafficking of narcotics and drug abuse was a global challenge. He said that Pakistan was acting as a frontline state in combating the menace and had also taken a number of initiatives to control trafficking of illicit narcotics. He said that the Anti-Narcotics Policy 2010 has sought to enhance public participation in combating drug abuse, strengthen drug enforcement structures and boost treatment and rehabilitation services. “A drug-free Pakistan remains the ultimate goal, which may not be achieved in the short term.
