Lahore Commissioner Jawad Rafique on Tuesday announced a crackdown against the factories polluting environment while treating waste and animal fat. The decision was taken in a meeting regarding the factories making chemicals out of animal fat. Jawad directed Environment District Officer Tariq Zaman to register cases on such factories and take stern action against them.
Jawad said that the environmental pollution caused by such factories in Bakarmandi was causing spread of various diseases in the city. He directed the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) and town officers to dump the offal from slaughter houses properly so that no one could use them for chemical treatment purposes. The meeting was attended by Members Provincial Assembly (MPA) Maher Ishtiaq, Chaudhry Shahbaz, Khwaja Imran Nazeer and other concerned officials.
