A full bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday called for the record of the judicial commission pertaining to non-confirmation of two additional judges. The bench including justices Maqbool Baqar, Faisal Arab and Sajjad Ali Shah was hearing the identical petitions moved by the SHC Bar Association (SHCBA)-Sukkur and Syed Mahmood Akhter Naqvi, a representative of a non-governmental organisation, against the decision of the parliamentary committee for non-confirmation of two additional SHC judges – Ghulam Sarwar and Irfan Saadat.
When the petition came up for hearing, Barr Farough Naseem and SHCBA President Anwar Mansoor Khan, representing the bar association, submitted that the matter is of public importance as dispensation of justice is being delayed due to shortage of judges in the court. They prayed to hear the petition on urgent basis.
The bench reviewed the record of the parliamentary committee produced by the deputy attorney general on the order of the bench. The bench called for the record of the judicial commission related to the confirmation of the additional judges of the SHC and put off the hearing until November 28.
