Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has accepted an invitation to visit Pakistan, media reported on Sunday.
While accepting the invitation, the Indian premier said peace dialogue between the two countries would resume soon. Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani had invited his Indian counterpart in a recent meeting held between the two leaders at the sidelines of a regional summit in Maldives.
“Pakistan’s prime minister was very keen that the Indian prime minister should visit Pakistan,” Indian Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai told reporters after the Maldives meeting. “It will be an opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations as well as an opportunity to visit his ancestral place, Gilani told Manmohan Singh,” according to the Indian foreign secretary. The dates of Singh’s visit to Pakistan would be decided through mutual consultations.
