‘Qureshi’s departure not to harm PPP’

Punjab Governor Latif Khosa said on Monday that Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s decision to quit the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) would not make any difference to the ruling party.
His remarks came within minutes after Qureshi announced to quit the PPP and resign from the National Assembly.
Governor Khosa dispelled the impression that Qureshi’s departure would harm the PPP in south Punjab.
He said Qureshi had been changing loyalties in the past as well. He said Qureshi remained as an associate of Ziaul Haq.
He said Qureshi wanted to leave the PPP after becoming nazim of Multan. “PPP is a large party. It will not be affected by any individual’s decision,” he added.
Meanwhile, PPP leader Raja Pervez Ashraf termed former party leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s decision of leaving the party his personal decision. “Many left the party in the past but today no one knows where and how they are,” he added.
While addressing a press conference outside the parliament in Islamabad, Pervez Ashraf terming PPP an ocean said that it was not dependent on individuals. He added that Qureshi used to be with Nawaz Sharif from where he joined PPP.

    it will be very difficult for anyone to significantly break or damage PPP
    PPP have survived for so long because of Ideology
    even after many founder left it like Khar etc
    it remained significantly , strong !!

  4. Floor crossing(changing parties in the assembly/after the elections) is wrong.

    But if someone leaves a party and then again presents himself before public in elections with another ticket, then there is no bad as the public has supported the person.

  5. I think it is the first time that someone after crossing the floor has voluntarily resigned from his parliament seat, or for that matter any provincial assembly seat. Well done Mr. Qureshi.
