Diabetic patients be doubled by 2025: Experts

The number of diabetic patients will be doubled by 2025 if proper steps and public awareness against the disease are not ensured.
This was expressed by diabetes experts during an awareness walk and symposium held in connection with The World Diabetes Day at Lahore General Hospital here today.
According to a press release, Punjab Health Parliamentary Secretary Dr Saeed Elahi was the chief guest at the event while PGMI Principal and LGH Prof Tariq Salahuddin, King Edward Medical College former principal Dr Mehmood Ali Malik, LGH MS Dr Zafar Ikram, Prof Ghayyas-un-Nabi Tayyab, Diabetes Specialist Dr Imran Hassan Khan and faculty members, doctors, nurses, nurse students and a large number of citizens were present on the occasion.
A free diabetes camp was also organised at the hospital where sugar tests of hundreds of patients were conducted free of cost. In order to maintain the data of sugar patients, a computer centre was also inaugurated at this occasion.
