A five-year-old girl was killed when a stray bullet hit her in the Faisal Town Police precincts on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Esha, a resident of Punjab Housing Society. According to police, a family of three people, including Muhammad Ghulam, his wife and daughter went to an ice-cream parlour at Maulana Shaukat Ali Road. As they were entering into the shop, Esha was hit by a stray bullet, injuring her critically. She was rushed to the emergency ward of Services Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Esha’s body was handed over to her family after police completed procedural steps. A case was registered at the Faisal Town Police Station.
Separately, a 50-year-old man was allegedly tortured to death by six people over a monetary dispute in the Samanabad Police precincts. According to details, the deceased was identified as Chaudhry Akbar, a property dealer and resident of Gulshan-e-Ravi. Police said that the deceased had a monetary dispute with two accused Muhammad Khalil and his son Abdul Basit. On Saturday, both parties quarreled in front of another property dealer Abdul Rehman at Samanabad. Police said that the accused tortured Akbar due to which he died.
Police lodged a case against six accused on Akbar’s wife Safia’s statement. The body was removed to the city morgue for autopsy.
