Police conducts search operation ahead of Muharram

The Saddar Division of police launched a massive search operation against suspicious elements in the wake of Moharram and Tablighi Ijtema on Sunday.
The search operation was mainly conducted in the localities of Thokar Niaz Baig, Chung and Hunjerwal. The police arrested around 121 suspected persons for interrogation, who had failed to prove their identity. Surety bonds were taken from the arrested persons that they would not allow stay of any suspicious person at their homes during the holy month of Moharram and the Ijtema days.
Saddar Division Superintendent Police (SP) Shoaib Khurram said that the search operation was conducted to thwart any terrorist activity during Moharram and Tablighi Ijtema. He said that the search operation would be conducted in Raiwind on Sunday night and it will continue till November 17. SP Shoaib directed the station house officers (SHO) and sub-divisional police officers (SDPO) to keep a vigilant eye on suspicious elements through extensive patrolling in their respective areas. He added that negligence on the part of SHOs and SDPOs would not be tolerated at any cost.
