PPP leader Dr Israr Shah on Sunday demanded constitution of a judicial commission to probe increase in the assets of the rulers, their friends and relatives.
“Corruption is destroying the country like plague and I feel proud to raiser voice in the party against the menace,” Israr Shah said while addressing a press conference.
Dr Israr Shah said the government should constitute a commission consisting of judges from superior judiciary to probe the increase of assets of the rulers, their friends and relatives. He also added that Fauzia Wahab and Jehangir Badar had tried to tarnish his image in TV talks, though both of them had used the government resources for their personal benefits.
Israr Shah said he had purchased a plot from the CDA for veterinary medicine factory and still owed over Rs 300 million loans to the bank, but he had never been a defaulter. He added that he had never taken any benefit from his party. According to him, he did not own a house and was living with workers on the factory premises. He claimed that he had paid Rs 3.6 million as income tax in the current financial year.
He alleged Jahangir Badar had taken benefits from the party government like quotas of LPG, textiles, petroleum products and appointments of relatives against lucrative posts. Israr Shah said he had been forced to hold this press conference by some people who tried to tarnish his character in the media. He added that he had remained a federal government adviser for two terms, but no one, including his political opponents, could prove any allegation of embezzlement against him.
