Ineligible people included in candidates’ list, alleges Engr Wahab

Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) member Wahab Najeeb Haroon said on Sunday that the names of ineligible persons had been included in the list of candidates for the election of PEC while many important candidates had been ignored.
Addressing a press conference here at the National Press Club, Wahab said the election of the PEC which would be held on December 18 had entered its final phase, but many anomalies had taken place in the whole process. “The names of many engineers with services for more than 25 years had also been ignored,” he said, adding the government should take notice of nominations of non-engineers in the election. He alleged the sitting PEC chairman, Abdul Qadir Shah, was also ineligible for the said post, but he clinched the key post by using influence of his brother who was a federal minister. He said he had also requested the federal minister for science and technology and the senate standing committee chairman to take notice of the issue and resolve it. He said that owing to shortage of time there were chances of wrangling during the elections, adding that errors in the website should also be removed on priority basis.
