More than 250 Pakistanis are languishing in the jails of occupied Kashmir and India without facing any trial.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Supreme Court of India has expressed shock and dismay over two Pakistanis being kept in Jammu and Kashmir prisons for over 40 years without any trial. The apex court asked New Delhi to file within two weeks a comprehensive report on them.
“It’s shocking that over 254 Pakistani nationals are languishing in jails without a trial,” said Indian Supreme Court judge, RN Lodha commenting on a public interest litigation. Justice Lodha also asked the Indian government to explain as to why four women among the jailed Pakistanis should not be repatriated without any delay.
Many of the detainees are believed to have been arrested after they unwittingly crossed the Line of Control.
These issues need to be taken up seriuosly by the constituences. Alas, the current PPP government is more interested in its constituency of Bharat and America.
