Rumours continued to make rounds on Friday concerning the entry of Mariam Nawaz Sharif, daughter of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif, into politics. Though the news could not be confirmed, it took everyone by surprise when it was first reported in the media. The issue surfaced after Mariam, wife of Capt (r) Safdar, turned down allegations regarding her assets in London in a TV show. Before her appearance in the media, Mariam made news when the MQM distributed pamphlets in parliament about her illegal migration from Army Medical College, Rawalpindi, to King Edward Medical College, Lahore. Per details, rules were allegedly flouted in 1991 to admit then prime minister, Nawaz Sharif’s daughter to King Edward Medical College, Lahore. However, none of the PML-N leaders confirmed the reports that Mariam had decided to participate in politics.
