Insaf Students Federation (ISF) staged a protest against non-extension of the deadline for voters’ registration at the Liberty Roundabout on Friday. Students holding banners and placards raised slogans against the government and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
ISF General Secretary Saqib Riaz Sandhu lashed out a the government saying it had failed to do its duty to the country during its three and half years term and the ECP had deceived the public by not extending the deadline. He said the “democratic” government had been depriving the public of their right to vote. He asked the federal government to order ECP to instantly restart the voters’ registration process.
Other ISF members said students would continue the protest until the ECP reverts its decision. The ECP’s door-to-door voter registration process ended on October 31.
