49 arrested

Forty-nine people, including a suspended Rangers official, were arrested from different parts of the city on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted an operation in Saeedabad and arrested two alleged criminals, Naeem and Basit. Weapons were confiscated from their possession.
Rangers arrested Babar Saleem and Sarosh when they were allegedly trying to deprive a couple of their mobile phones and other valuables near Aladdin Park.
Babar Saleem was a Rangers official was suspended due to his involvement in street crimes, sources said. Later, both men were handed over to the Aziz Bhatti police station. 
According to a handout issued from the office of the deputy inspector general (West), 45 street criminals were arrested in various incidents and 22 TT pistols, jewellery, three motorcycles and other vehicles, narcotics and other valuable items were recovered from their possession.
ATTACK: Two men belonging to religious parties were injured in an attack by unidentified people in Quaidabad. Saeed Alaam, president of the Shabab-e-Milli in Quaidabad and his companion Nawaz Swati, an activist of Jamaat-e-Islami, were riding a motorcycle when the assailants opened fire on them.  
Alam and Swati were shifted to the Aga Khan Hospital in a serious condition. After the attack, the suspects left their motorcycle on the spot while escaping from the scene.
