Education and rule of law

Sindh is rich with resources but majority of its ill-fated inhabitants are living in abject poverty. Regrettably, the schools which were shut by the past successive military rulers are still shut and doors of the prisons are still open. It appears from the situation that our present rulers are least bothered about education and well-being of the people of Sindh.

Otherwise, they might have opened many schools because education is considered as the mother of democracy. When there is no education, what can we say about democracy and the rule of law in the country? It is an axiomatic truth that the rule of law is lacking as the judicial system is weak, overburdened, and inefficient. Well-armed criminals know there is little chance they will be caught or punished; hence, they commit more crimes. It is high time for our present rulers to address the genuine issues of the people, such as promotion of education, rule of law, democratisation of the institutions, etc. Otherwise, they will have to sow what they reap because life is an echo and it always comes back to us.
