Another patient died of dengue fever on Thursday, mounting the death toll to 320 in Punjab.
Zahid Bashir, a 43-year-old resident of Tajpura, who was under treatment in a special dengue ward of the Jinnah Hospital lost his weeklong battle against dengue fever.
According to the Health Department, only 23 persons with positive dengue symptoms in their blood reports were reported in Punjab during the last 24 hours, out of them 10 are from Lahore. The total number of dengue patients in Punjab has risen to 3,678 and out of them 2,498 belong to Lahore.
According to independent sources, 350 patients have died in Lahore since outbreak of the epidemic this year, while the Health Department has confirmed only 320 deaths in Punjab, 277 of them in Lahore.
Meanwhile, Punjab Health Secretary Jehanzeb Khan said that with the turn of weather, there was an appreciable decrease in the dengue patients across the province. He hoped that the situation would be more under control as the temperature falls in days to come.
Get over dengue already.
Dengue in itself is not dangerous. The fatality rate is 2%. Most of the people who have died from dengue in Punjab is due to mismanagement by the patient or the doctor or the family.
