The Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA) has taken physical possession of 90.8 acres of land for its housing scheme, planned to accommodate government officers at Kurri Road. A payment of Rs.445 million has also been made to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) as cost of land, sources at the Ministry of Housing and Works said here on Thursday. The sources said the design consultant had already been appointed and was working out the detailed specifications, layout, design, elevations and cost of the project. As per the anticipated time schedule, construction activities will start in March 2012 and completed in April 2014, they added.
CDA sanitary staff hailed: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi on Thursday appreciated the sanitation staff at the Authority for their remarkable effort at keep the city clean and disposing of more than 60,000 offals of sacrificial animals from the federal capital. “These efforts deserve appreciation and the sanitary workforce deputed for the cleaning of the city will be given one addition salary as reward for their hard work on this special occasion,” he announced while presiding over a post-review meeting on the Eidul Adha cleanliness plan.

  1. The price tag of a 4300 sq ft grey structure alloted to a grade 22 officer is Rs. 10 million. This does not include the cost of land or finishes. It is interesting to note, at current market prices, and the use of top quality brick, steel and cement and including half a basement, the cost of a grey structure amounts to Rs. 850 per square foot.

The PHA, building affordable housing for civil servants, are charging Rs. 2320 per sq foot for the grey structure alone!

In addition, if one wants a finished house, one has to pay an additional 50 lakhs, which is again quite steep considering the materials being used are all local or chinese.
Overall cost of 4300 sq foot house is Rs. 15 million. The price of the 1 Kanal land is still undertimined and is to be paid in two installements by the officer. The installements for the house, with a completion date of 2014 start with a 20 lakh downpayment by Dec 30 2011, with subsequent installements of Rs. 13 Lakhs every 3 months.

With the target population being salaried civil servants and retired officers, how is anyone to come up with that sort of money and lock it down 3 to 4 years before the house will be handed over?

  2. I think they keep launching new schemes or sectors to manage their cash flows, otherwise they haven't delivered anything on time.

This project will again be thrashed into corruption of land mafia who will start encroaching the land before the work starts and then court cases will linger it on like other cda sectors.

Park enclave is a good example from last yr, whose delivery time was 2 yrs and they are still fumbling with the tender notices. Nothing has been done about it yet, how come this scheme will go thru. Waste of money and time in the belly of this corrupt government. may we get rid of them soooon.

  3. The scheme was launched 4 years go,but no progress. The Pha is just pesuing for installments. All meember who are paying money are in mental torture.Whenit will be completed.
