Mehergarh, a centre for learning, Saturday conducted a two-day training on ‘Interventions to Promote Pluralism’. The participants included members of various youth organisations and platforms working for peace and pluralism in the country.
The participants included representatives of Aware Girls, Seeds of Peace Network, Progressive Youth Forum, Neengar Society, Y-Peer Network, Bacha Khan Education Trust Foundation, Human Rights Commission for Social Justice & Peace and Youth Together for Human Rights Education.
The event searched for youth platforms and networks working on peace and pluralism and invited them to attend this training in order to give them a background of the current issue of extremism in the country. The facilitator of event was Dr Fouzia Saeed who in response to the increasing Talibanisation of the country had actively worked on promoting pluralism in the country.
Khadim Hussain also facilitated the training and researched the discourse of the extremist forces in Pakistan. Dr Kamran Ahmad, the author of ‘Roots of Religious Tolerance in Pakistan and India’ and ‘Tareeqat’ also facilitated the training.
