Gone are the days when the Islooites used to have live concerts on almost every other weekend and sometimes even throughout the week. Despite this overall bleak situation void of fun, the PNCA is perhaps the only organisation that provides every now and then some opportunity to the fun-loving youth of the city.
The council on Friday night arranged a live musical concert featuring Haroon Ahmed and his band to entertain the residents of the twin cities and that too for free. The council arranged the event called ‘Kaisi hein ye dooriyan’ as part of its ‘An evening with the youth’ series at its open air theatre.
Though there was a little chill in the air, yet youngsters and elders had fun. The audience could not help dancing to Haroon’s hit songs.
“I am surprised to know that the PNCA did not hold even a single event at this open air venue the whole summer and that they are arranging this new with the onset of winter. But I love it being here with this good music playing, coupled with the melodious voice of Haroon,” commented a female music lover.
Haroon in his dark blue jeans and camel coloured leather jacket, started off with a patriotic number- ‘Dil sy meinay dekha Pakistan’.
Later, Haroon removed his pullover and ran off the stage to mingle with the cheering crowd while singing his hit song ‘Yara, bara tarpa hoon mein’. It was followed by ‘jany konsi haseena’. After that he sang ‘Jiya ja isi haal mein’, dedicating that to the youth.
There was a capacity of around 500 people and the house was packed. The stage was beautifully decorated. For the convenience of audience there was no restriction on using mobile phones.
The audience enjoyed every bit of the classy combination of sky-scrapping guitar and hardcore drumming in Haroon’s Sufi classic number ‘Ghoom Charkhra ghoom’. ‘Gee ky dekha, mar ky dekha’ was the next track that gave the audience a chance to sing it with the pop artist.
Haroon later on invited a boy to the stage hinting he might be playing his next song’s character ‘Mr. Fraudiay’. The boy from the crowd danced well next to the singer.
‘Mein na manoon haar’, was the another popular hit that the enthusiastic audience started singing along with their roaring voices.
On that occasion, Haroon dedicated his next track ‘Tujhko denay nazrana’ to all the lovers. It was followed by a Punjabi hit song ‘Goriay, chakoriay, tenu ki hoya ay goriay’,
‘Ay jawan, ay jawan’, ‘Mehbooba’, and ‘jadoo ka charagh’ –all these songs were well appreciated by the crowd.
