Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) Managing Director Misbahuddin Fareed has written a letter to the Karachi station commander, calling for an end to power outages at pumping station as this hinders water supply to the city.
In the letter, Fareed stated that power supply suspension to prime pumping station including Dhabeji and Pipri stations affects the water supply to different areas of the city, especially the bulk supply.
The head of the water utility maintained that Dhabeji and Pipri stations are the primary source of water supply to the areas of Defence Housing Authority and Cantonment Board Clifton, and voltage fluctuation make it difficult to maintain smooth flow of water.
“Due to voltage fluctuations, the mechanical and electrical water pumping systems are also at risk,” he said.
Fareed also urged the station commander to call an urgent meeting of the Karachi Electric Supply Company and KWSB to find a solution to the problem.
”The same issues were brought to the table during the meetings with the Malir station commander and Malir executive officer but the problem remains unsolved,” the KWSB managing director added.
