Teaching hospitals get ambulances

Sindh Health Minister Dr Saghir Ahmed handed over the keys of ambulances, equipped with ventilators and rescue gadgets, to the medical superintendents of different teaching hospitals in the province on Wednesday.
According to a press statement, these vehicles, costing Rs 51.428 million, were much required by the hospitals that deal with a large number of road accident cases and other emergencies.
The hospitals that received the include the Civil Hospital Karachi, Sindh Government Qatar Hospital, Orangi Town, Lyari General Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Larkana, Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas, People’s Medical University Benazirabad and Liaquat Medical College Hyderabad.
“The provincial Health Department is committed to modernise its hospitals and all other healthcare facilities, Dr Ahmed said on the occasion.
“We will soon arrange more ambulances for district and taluka hospitals.”
He said the Health Department is working in accordance with its vision of “service for all” and will work for better health facilities for all patients without any discrimination.
“Proper use and maintenance of ambulances will be the responsibility of the medical superintendents of the hospitals.”
