The students of the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) organised a competition based on a new concept called ‘USR-University Social Responsibility’.
According to statement issued by SZABIST on Wednesday, a platform was created here students from different universities participated and came up with new ideas regarding social issues and how they can contribute to the society.
A healthy competition was seen among the students, who seemed willing to bring about a change.
The team that outclassed its competitors was the home team and was from the Rotract Society.
The members of the team were Ali-ur-Rehman, Fahad Ali, Alina Nabi, Fatima Yousuf and Mohammad Raza. They won prize money of Rs 50,000.
“I’m very proud of my students. They all worked hard in planning and organising this competition,” said SZABIST Faculty Adviser Hina Shamsi Nauman. Project Coordinator Ali Khalid said, “The idea of the competition was not only to find out new ways of being responsible but also to make a platform where students from universities would get united to think of new ways of bringing about a positive change in our society. I thank my team for their efforts, our faculty advisor for her support, the caterers, sponsors and the SZABIST management for their all their help and support.”
One of the judges, Shaukat Ali Suleman, impressed by the concept and its implementation by the organising team, said that the youth of today have taken interest in the social issues and a creative idea to tackle them. “The concept was innovative and the implementation was excellent. It was a brilliant initiative.”
