Minister for Interior Rehman Malik said on Thursday the government would defend the Pakistani cricketers allegedly involved in spot-fixing, if they were found innocent.
Addressing media persons outside the Parliament House, he said assistance would be provided to these players, if required. But, he added the people would not spare them if they were found involved in the fixing case. Replying to a question, the minister welcomed the decision to grant status of Most Favored Nation(MSF) to India, saying it would have positive impact on bilateral relations between the two countries.

He added he personally understood that good relations between neighboring countries had always positive impact on bilateral relations.
However, he added, if the Parliament considered the decision as not favorable, it should reverse it. He said ministerial and secretary level meetings with India had contributed towards improving relations between the two countries, which was a positive development.
Answering another question, he said his visit to Turkey remained very successful, adding wide-range of issues were discussed in meetings during the visit.
He was of the view that Pakistan and Afghanistan were needed to have interior ministerial level meetings for ensuring peace.
He said an immigration counter would be set up at Pak-Afghan boarder by the end of the month.
