‘Skill development can lead Pakistan to progress’

Intellectual Property Organisation of Pakistan Chairman Hameedullah Jan Afridi on Wednesday said Pakistan could explore ways and means of progress and prosperity in all sectors by providing modern education and skill development opportunities to the youth.
He expressed these views while talking with a delegation of Institute of Forensic Accountants of Pakistan (IFAP), headed by its Vice-president Tahir Iqbal.
Afridi was of the view that the IPO-Pakistan was taking all possible initiatives to bring all sectors of the economy under one umbrella to protect their property rights by registration, adding that businessmen were being encouraged to increase their investment to generate economic activities in the country. He cited the menace of burgeoning piracy and counterfeiting as the major present day challenges and said a strategic framework was under consideration to overcome the crisis. “Collective efforts are needed to bring our country on the path of progress and development.”
The IPO chairman lauded the role of IFAP in providing education and training in the fields of Forensic Accounting, Forensic Auditing, Forensic Investigation, Fraud Examination, Money Laundering, Corporate Governance, Financial Reporting and its allied areas/subjects.
Tahir Iqbal of IFAP appreciated the role of IPO-Pakistan and shared different ideas and proposals to enhance mutual collaboration among both organisations.
2 fleeing robbers arrested with loot

ISLAMABAD: The capital police claimed Wednesday to have arrested two bandits when they were fleeing after robbing a house in Sihala police precincts. A police spokesman said that they were informed about a house robbery and they sent a team which later chased down the fleeing robbers and seized from them looted valuables inducing gold ornaments, cash and mobile phones. According to police sources, three gun-totting robbers had stormed into the house of Zahoor Ahmed, a local resident, in the wee hours of Wednesday stated looting. The sources added that the robbers later left the house with cash, gold ornaments worth Rs 0.25 million. They said the two were arrested while their third associate managed to escape. Those arrested were later identified as Aamir Razaq and Liaqat. The police team also recovered two 30-bore pistols, 14 live rounds from them. STAFF REPORT
