Vice Admiral Abbas takes over as PN Karachi commander

Vice Admiral Abbas Raza has taken over the charge of the Pakistan Navy (PN) Karachi commander, becoming the in-charge of all navy units and establishments in the city. According to an ISPR press release, Raza was commissioned in the PN in 1975 and so far, he has served at various distinguished posts including the Pakistan Naval Academy deputy commandant, Frigate Class Ships commanding officer, Auxiliary and Mine Warfare squadron commander, principal secretary to the chief of the naval staff, naval attache in France, Joint Warfare and Training director general, Joint Staff Headquarters director general and Naval Staff (Operations) deputy chief.
Before assuming charge as the Karachi commander, he was the Pakistan Fleet commander. Raza is specialised in naval communications. He is an alumnus of the Royal Navy Staff College, Greenwich, UK and National Defence University Islamabad. In recognition of his meritorious services, he has been awarded with the Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military).
