Power tariffs are expected to surge once again by Rs 1.77 per unit on a request made by Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA). Power tariffs will be raised for the month of September, media reported on Wednesday.
According to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), tariffs of power distributing companies would be revved up under monthly fuel adjustment, as electricity to the tune of 8.11 billion units, was sold out to these companies during September. The fuel cost on the sold out electricity was Rs 46.04 billion.
NEPRA will finally approve the tariffs hike tomorrow with no application from Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC).
The power distribution companies will receive revenue from their consumers worth Rs 14.19 billion if the NEPRA grants the proposed raise in power tariffs tomorrow.
