Pakistan, Afghanistan to install biometric system

Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed upon the installation of biometric system on their borders by the end of this month.
An agreement was reached during the meeting between Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Afghan Interior Minister Bismillah Khan here on Wednesday.
The two interior ministers exchanged views on Pak-Afghan border situation and the installation of biometric system on the borders. Both the countries agreed to work together to control illegal border crossing and elimination of terrorists.
Rehman Malik said that Pakistan wanted peace in Afghanistan, and if peace prevailed in Afghanistan then all the countries of the region will achieve development.
Turkish Interior Minister Idrees Naeem Shaheen also met Rehman Malik. It was decided during the meeting that a joint task force would be established which will look into the matters of Pakistani nationals who reach Turkey through illegal way and inform Pakistan about agents who are behind the human trafficking so that action could be initiated against them.
Besides initiation of measures for curbing human trafficking, both the ministers agreed that Turkey would extend cooperation in imparting training to Pakistani police compatible with the requirements of contemporary age.
The Turkish interior minister also agreed to soon visit Pakistan at the invitation of Rehman Malik.
The interior ministers of the three countries, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Turkey, also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
In keeping with this MOU, the three countries would work together for controlling money laundering and smuggling, eliminating terrorism and sharing real time information.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Afghan president Hamid Karzai and Turkish president Abdullah Gul were also present on the occasion.
