Japanese films screened for students

The ongoing Japanese Film Festival screened two movies for students of various educational institutions of the twin cities here Tuesday while one movie would be screened for the general public on November 2.
Embassy of Japan in Pakistan in collaboration with Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) organised the festival to entertain the audience of twin cities through glimpses of Japanese culture showcasing theatrical animations with English sub-titles.
The festival showcased the movies including “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time”, “Summer Days with Coo” and “Spirited Away”. The Japanese Film Festival in Pakistan has been held since 1995, with the support of the Japan Foundation, to provide an opportunity for the people of Pakistan to witness various aspects of the Japanese lifestyle, culture and society.
This year, the focus of the festival was on Japanese Animation films for the first time in Pakistan. Japanese animation is a widely accepted form of entertainment in Japan and is also known worldwide as ‘Anime’. It is different from traditional animation films in terms of storylines and drawings.
