In his efforts to resolve the power crisis that is plaguing the country at the moment, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani gave the green light on Tuesday to importing electricity from India and decided to take up the matter with his Indian counterpart this month, local newspapers reported.
Moreover, Mr Gilani expressed “deep concern” and “dissatisfaction” over long delays in the implementation of strategically important projects in a statement issued by the prime minister’s secretariat.
An official said India had offered to sell about 500MW of electricity. It may materialise within a year by laying a transmission line. The facility in theory would have two-way electricity trade because of difference in peak-time demands in the two countries but given the continuous shortfalls in Pakistan, India would be the net exporter of electricity in foreseeable future, he said.
one terror attack and india will stop everything so its just a waste of time and waste of money grow up mr. Gilani
There is nothing wrong in importing electricity from India like any other commodity needed here. This can be a temporary measure till such time Pakistan is ready to meet its own requirement itself. In international politics it is always national interest which is supreme. There is no such thing as ‘Permament friends’ or ‘permament enemies’ in international politics. Just look at the History of nations. Look at Geat Britain and France, U.S.A. and Japan, Korea and japan , U.S.A. and Germany ; and there are are scores of such example. Pakistan is facing an acute problem of energy shortage which is seriously affecting every sector of our national activity. I believe Pakistan government has taken correct decision and it must be implemented. JR
Govt is wrong if can,t handle the situation so give the resignation.give up the chance to new leadership and we Pakistanis are ready to give aid to our motherland and boost up the country what are they waiting for.but no for this govt
Unfortunayely, we are very emotional people. We work less and arealways ready with empty slogans. As a nation, we must grow up, learn Politics and more than that International Politics. We would make our journey far more difficult by our own follies. No nation, how big it is, can survive in isolation. If this lousy government is doing something good (in national interest) it must be applauded. JR
Are you ”So” desparate . Id not like use a single appliance on such a electricity
If Pakistani keep fighting over kalabagh dam….If RPPs, IPPs are blocked by partisan judiciary..then there is nothing wrong with importing electricity from India.
From An Enemy..:P
It’s better to step forward towards kala bag DAMe, I think that’s a permanent solution.
i agree with Mr Nasir Khan
