Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Ghous Ali Shah on Monday claimed that in 12 districts of Sindh, party offices and houses of PML-N leaders were torched or attacked and the party will approach the judiciary if FIRs of the incidents are not registered.
“The rulers are themselves inviting the army for intervention by making the situation worse in the country but we will not invite the army neither support it,” the PML-N leader said while addressing a press conference at his residence.
Shah said the PML-N wants to register cases against the real culprits behind setting fire to party offices and firing at the houses of party leaders in Sindh.
“The political atmosphere should not be heated up as it would not in the best interest of the country. The situation during the Nawaz government [in 1999] was not that bad and still the army intervened. Now the situation is worsening and ‘they’ can attempt [a coup] again.”
Shah said that despite the party workers being arrested in Nawabshah, they were advised to remain calm and not get worked up. “No office of any party was attacked in Lahore and it is the government’s responsibility to provide security to the offices of political parties.”
