A three-day rain-spell, forecast to hit specially the southern parts of the country from Tuesday, may introduce a welcome chill in the air, days ahead of the Eidul Azha.
Though mornings and evenings are already a little bit colder in the northern parts of the country, the coming wet spell, followed by another rain spell in the second week of November, may well usher in the winter in all its glory, say the weather pundits.
According to an advisory issued by the Met office on Monday, a well marked low pressure developed over central parts of Arabian Sea has intensified into a “Depression” (a strong weather system) at 1200 km south-southwest of Balochistan coast.
This strong weather system is moving to the north-west direction and likely to hit eastern coast of Sultanate of Oman on Tuesday, resulting in widespread heavy rains accompanied by strong gusty winds over there.
A Met official told APP that widespread rains were likely to occur in the southern parts of the country from Tuesday to Thursday which will intensify cold weather conditions.
Isolated rain in upper parts of the country during this spell will decrease the day temperature in Eid days. However, he said, there would be no significant change in the night temperatures.
This weather system will cause widespread rain heavy at times in southern Balochistan and lower Sindh including Karachi from Tuesday to Thursday.
Flood affected areas of lower Sindh may also receive scattered rain/thundershowers on Wednesday and likely to continue during the next 24 hours.
The official informed that winter rains will start from second week of November.
The fishermen in Balochistan and Sindh have been advised not to venture into open sea from Tuesday to Thursday as the sea conditions are very likely to remain rough to very rough during the period.
