IHC raises objection to petition for compensation

A citizen tried to move the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday seeking compensation for the family of Raja Khan who had committed suicide outside the Parliament House on 23 October.
Manzoor Ahmad Bhatti, a resident of the federal capital filed a petition seeking Rs 2.5 million as compensation for the family of the deceased. The IHC administration, however, raised an objection on his petition and did not forward it to the court.
The petitioner has made respondents the parliamentary affairs secretary, Election Commission Chairman, Cabinet Division finance secretaries.
The petitioner alleged that the government’s apathy had forced the public to starvation and suicides, adding that Raja Khan also committed self immolation because of poverty and unemployment.
