The city police booked on Monday factory owner and his four employers for their alleged criminal negligence towards the safety and security of the staff, due to which four labourers had died on Sunday after falling into tank filled with toxic substance.
Earlier on Sunday, a tragic incident had taken place at the paper factory called DUI, situated in Model Town, within the Sihala Police precincts.
The incident took place when a worker, while working near a 15-feet deep tank filled with toxic substances, accidentally fall into the tank. His three colleagues also tried to rescue him but they too ended up dead like him.
Nadeem Shahzad, 25, was the first to slip into the tank while others were identified as. Ayaz Gul, 23, Shahid Farooq, 24, and Asim Ali, 21.
Two other workers Yasir Ali, 21, and Mohammad Saqlain, 20 had also jumped into the tank for rescuing their colleagues but they were only wounded.
On Monday, Sub-Inspector Basharat Shah told Pakistan Today that an FIR under section 322/34 had been registered against four accused.
They include Fazal Hussain (the factory owner), Khalid Mahmood (section officer of the factory), Munir Anwar and Abrar Ahmed for their criminal negligence that led to the death of four labourers. To a query, the IO said the booked men were yet to be arrested.
