The implementation of the federal government’s decision on dissolution of Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) has begun.
The implementation process consists of three phases. In first phase, 12 units are being shifted to National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC). These units include finance, coordination, monitoring, project management, thermal power, high voltage transmission, corporate sector, energy management, and conservation.
In the second phase, PEPCO staff would be repatriated to their respective departments. According to sources, the Ministry of Water and Power has stopped the human resource department of PEPCO from making any new appointments and transfers. The ministry has also sought details of direct recruitments made in PEPCO.
In the third phase of the dissolution, the formal announcement of the dissolution of PEPCO would be made after the last meeting.
