The campaign launched by the Punjab government to demolish illegal constructions is in doldrums, as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders are main the beneficiaries of the unlawful practice, Pakistan Today has learnt.
The district coordination officer (DCO) had issued notices to four petrol pumps, including the one owned by former federal minister Ghulam Dastagir Khan and his son Khurram Dastagir Khan MNA, on the charges of encroachment, but the opposition leaders in Punjab are accusing the provincial government of giving a clean chit to its loyalists.
The notices issued were 273 and 274 Khailai Shahpur Town, 2817 Nandipur Town and 59 Qila Deedar Singh Town. And the notice 2817 is for the petrol pump owned by Ghulam Dastagir. Imtiaz Safdar Warraich, the president of Punjab chapter of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), said the Punjab government was supporting the land grabbers as most of the members of PML-N were behind the illegal encroachments.
He said nothing fruitful could be achieved because of the dual standards observed by the Punjab government and the people had seen the true faces of these leaders.
