PML-N leader Shaukat Rana of Radha Krishan area, Kasur was torched to death after unknown persons set his bed ablaze, while he was asleep.
Police, who arrived on the scene in heavy contingents, reported that the PML-N leader succumbed to his serious burns.
The leader’s son informed that the family only became aware in the morning, when he approached the bed of the deceased, which had been doused in kerosene oil.
The son was at a loss to explain the reason of the murder.
Police has shifted the burnt dead body to Chonian Hospital, while PML-N activists and supporters have lodged a strong protest over the issue, demanding immediate arrest of responsible elements.
