Muslim Model School won the Lahore Gymkhana Schools T20 Championship beating Qila Lakshman Singh School by five runs in the final here at the Bagh-i-Jinnah’s ground on Saturday.
Muslim Model not only lifted the winners’ trophy but also pocketed Rs 20,000 prize money. Punjab Governor Latif Khosa was the chief guest and gave away the prizes. Winning the toss, Muslim Model scored 144 runs for seven. Zahid Alam 27, Ibrahim Khan 17, Kamran Afzal 28, Bilal Jutt 25, Faisal Ali 14 not out and Mohammad Israr 14 not out were the main scorers.
Asad Tariq took two wickets for 21 runs, Shabeer Ahmed, Sajeel Raza, Waseem Khan and Muzaffar Malik shared one wicket each. In reply, Qila School could reach 139 in 19.4 overs before being bowled out. Waseem Khan 22, Irfan Ali 11, Muzafar Malik 11, Farhan Shafiq 12, Abdullah Khan 22, Abdullah Khan 22 were the prominent batsmen. Israr two for 19, Kamran two for 19, Zaheer two for 24, Ibrahim Khan one for 21, Ali Raza one for 20.
Kamran Afzal was named the man of the match while the match was supervised by Mohamamd Kaleem and Javed Ashraf while Waris Ali was the scorer. Hamza Ali and Marina Iqbal were named the best players while Burhan and Bisma Mahroof were best batters, Ali Raza and Nida Dar were best bowlers of the tournament which was participated by 16 teams.
