Dr Palihawadana Paba, the head of the Sri Lankan medical team currently visiting Punjab, on Saturday said the effective strategy evolved by the Punjab government for eradication of dengue virus had yielded positive results in a very short period.
He further said the way elected representatives, bureaucrats and various departments made efforts under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif while the doctors, nurses and paramedical staff gained expertise and knowledge for the treatment of the virus was not seen in Sri Lanka.
He were expressed these views during a meeting held in connection with eradication of dengue.
Paying tributes to the Punjab government for taking solid steps for eradicating dengue, he said had effective steps not been taken on time, loss of human lives would have been much more. He said Sri Lanka had been facing the virus for the last many decades. He hoped that the virus would soon be controlled.
