Police claimed one Bugti tribesman was killed in cross-fire between Frontier Corps Balochistan personnel and local Bugti tribesmen in Naseerabad district, some 370 KM south-east of Quetta on Saturday. However, independent sources claimed the deceased was killed without provocation.
Nasirabad police officials said FC personnel deputed in the Mungoli area of Nasirabad district were attacked by a group of people with light weapons. The FC personnel retaliated and chased the attackers, who went into nearby village Goth Pir Jan. FC personnel surrounded the village to raid and arrest the attackers.
Police claimed the attackers opened fire again to which FC personnel retaliated with return fire. They said one of the attackers, Mohammad Ismail Bugti, was injured from the gunfire and four others were arrested. Ismail later succumbed to his wounds. One of the arrested, Abdul Lateef, was kept for interrogation while the rest were allowed to return home.
However, independent sources claimed FC personnel raided Pir Jan Goth to arrest suspected insurgents after hearing gunshots. During the raid, they opened fire on Ismail, the owner of the house, suspecting they were being attacked.
