Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Friday that he will announce a dengue control plan in a couple of days to curb dengue, which experts warn may bring havoc in coming years.
He was addressing a meeting of elected representatives and chairmen town committees to review the dengue situation in various towns. The CM said that a special team consisting of world renowned Sri Lankan dengue expert Dr Fernando, local doctors and experts was constituted to probe that how many people had died due to dengue and how many due to other causes and these facts will be brought before the people.
He said that a comprehensive strategy was adopted to bring down the mortality rate due to dengue and in this regard consultants were paying regular visits to private, welfare and small hospitals and ensuring immediate shifting of complicated dengue patients to teaching hospitals. Shahbaz said that briefing and training was also arranged for registered quacks and homeopathic practitioners and their participation was made compulsory in this programme.
