Police ensure foolproof security for PML-N rally

Strong security arrangements were made by Punjab Police to ensure the safe execution of the chief minister’s rally on Friday, with a heavy contingent of police deployed around the venue of the public gathering.
Almost 3,000 police personnel were on duty at various positions across the city to protect the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) rally. Plainclothesmen and uniformed officers were seen at all entrances and exits of the venue and along the rally’s scheduled route. The rally area was closed to traffic from all sides: Town Hall, MAO College, Data Darbar Chowk, Urdu Bazaar junction and other small arteries.
Police thoroughly searched those entering the rally area. Metal detectors, dogs, mounted policemen, heavy contingent of women police and sharpshooters on rooftops were deployed along the entire length of the rally area. Police patrols were also seen surveilling the area.
Police sources said Lahore Police had adopted extensive security measures to prevent the occurrence of any untoward incidents. PML-N workers were only allowed to enter from a gate at the Town Hall side whereas the remaining route was closed to all entry without exception.
