ICAS holds ‘UN Day-Planting Peace’ event

The Islamabad College of Arts and Sciences (ICAS) and the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) jointly held an event called “UN Day-Planting Peace” here on Friday.
The event was presided over by the Brazilian ambassador to Pakistan Alfredo Leoni while Mazhar Qayyum Awan, who is the director for the alumni affairs and in-charge of admin and security, represented the USEFP.
The ICAS students Around 200 people representing approximately 44 countries saw students dressed in the national costumes of various countries. Speaking on the occasion, Alfredo Leoni said, “It gives me great pleasure to be present at this event and represent Brazil, one of the most peaceful countries in the world.”
Mazhar Awan encouraged students to consider going to the US for their higher education. “The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan is a bi-national commission, established in 1950 by the governments of Pakistan and the United States. USEFP is one of 51 ‘Fulbright Commissions’ located throughout the world. Since its inception 60 years ago, the Foundation has fostered mutual understanding between the people of Pakistan and the United States through educational and cultural exchanges.” he said.
