Drama Festival concludes at Rawalpindi Arts Council

The two-day drama festival and declamation contest among college and university students of the twin cities concluded here on Friday. The event was arranged by the Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC).
The students overwhelmingly participated in the contest with a message of hope, patience and love for their country.
The students of the Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) clinched the first position in the festival while students from the Islamabad Model College for Women and Government Post Graduate College for Women jointly bagged the second position. The students from the Government College for Women Zafar-ul-Haq Road, however, got the third position.
Students on the occasion were also given individual awards. Hadi from QAU was selected as best actress for her performance in the drama festival while the supporting actress award was given to Shiza Pasha of the Islamabad Post Graduate College for Women.
Similarly, best director award was given to Raeel of Government Post Graduate College for Women and best script award went to Saqib Ali for a drama on dengue. The students were also awarded participation certificates by the RAC.
Earlier, two dramas were staged on Friday. The students of Government College for Women Zafar-ul-Haq Road staged “Ishtabah-i-Nazar” while the students of Government Post Graduate College Satellite Town presented drama “Paivand”.
Renowned social worker Ayesha Ejaz Bhutta was the chief guest who gave away awards to the winners.
Talking to the media later, she said the Rawalpindi Arts Council had provided a wonderful platform to the young artists.
RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed said the council was always open for cultural activities.
