President Asif Ali Zardari is a symbol of the federation and un-parliamentary language against him without any solid reason reflects the character of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Minister for Information Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Friday.
She said the use of derogatory language against the president was contempt of parliament.
“Holding a rally by using official resources is the worst form of corruption. The Punjab government has given dengue and lawlessness to the people of the province during its four years of rule,” she said. “The people, who left the country after compromising with a dictator cannot launch a movement against the democratic government.” Firdous said democracy was the name of tolerance and respect of each other’s mandate and the protest against an elected government was a contempt of people’s mandate, even parliament.
She criticised the attitude of the PML-N, which was ruling 60 percent of the country. “It should concentrate on providing facilities to the people, instead they are holding useless rallies,” she added. “Politics of confrontation is democracy per Sharifs’ principles .They should join hands with the government to help resolve the problems of the masses,” she said. The minister said democracy was being digested by the disciples of the worst dictator of the country.
“The Sharif brothers even do not have their own political slogans, they copy the slogans of the PPP,” she said, adding that everyone in Punjab, including teachers and lawyers, was protesting to get their rights. Senator Babar Awan, told a press conference that the Lahore rally was the beginning of the end of Sharif brothers. He said it was a “comedy show” through which Shahbaz Sharif had made an unconstitutional demand from the elected president of the country to step down. Flanked by PPP Punjab President Raja Riaz and others, Awan gave a measured response to the outburst by Shahbaz, calling Sharif brothers “Shar (mischief) brothers”, who he claimed were not being taken by the people at large seriously.
“After a long time, derogatory language was used against the PPP leadership again… today’s speech was an action replay of the speech General Musharraf delivered on May 12 … the rally staged in a narrow street of Bhaati Gate Lahore was a result of the misuse of government resources and public sector employees, police and Education Ministry were used because the public was not interested,” Awan said.

  1. I was so disappointed to see Shabaz Sharif using that disgusting language against the President. We like him or not , every one of us must realize, Zardari is a democratically elected President of Pakistan. In Martial Laws the Sharifs were reassuring to the people of Pakistan not to go back in the past to repeat 90s dirty politics. But now when there's democracy and democratic set up is functional in entire country they are defiantly making mockery of it, desperately wanting to come into power.
