Terming the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) ‘Go Zardari Go Rally’ as merely a political show rather than a mass gathering, Punjab Governor Latif Khosa on Friday asked the PML-N to prepare for the upcoming Senate elections instead of wasting its energies on futile practices.
Talking to journalists at a ceremony held in connection with International Human Rights Awards at the Governor’s House, Khosa said that owing to criminal negligence and bad governance, more than 300 people had lost their lives because of the deadly dengue but the Punjab government was busy in amusement shows. He said that the rally, which was brought out against corruption, was in fact held to plunder millions of rupees from the provincial kitty and safeguard corruption of funds in arrangements of the rally, which was only a self-publicity campaign.
Criticising Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif’s bad governance, Khosa said that Punjab’s rulers had miserably failed to protect daughters of the nation, as a result of which stunning incidents were appearing in the media on a daily basis.
Earlier, Human Rights Commission Chairman Rana nominated Mother of Democracy Nusrat Bhutto for an award for her services to establish a federal women ministry and struggle for women rights. The award was received by Khosa as representative of the federal government. Another award was awarded to Adviser to the governor Chaudhry Munawar Anjum for his services.
Separately, the governor said that the rally was a drama, which was arranged with money looted from the people of Punjab. He said that the Sharif brothers had always sabotaged the democratic process. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Lahore Women Wing President Faiza Malik called the PML-N a remnant of former dictator Ziaul Haq and said that the Punjab CM had violated the constitution by objecting on President Asif Ali Zardari and should be trialed under Article Six.
